Frequently Asked Questions: Strategies for Success, Enrollment Deadlines, and Student Support Services

The Adult Dual Enrollment program is built on the belief that it is never too late to pursue higher education or specialized technical training. To help you navigate this unique partnership between programs, we have synthesized the most common questions into one accessible guide.

Questions or concerns?

If you have any questions or concerns during a counseling appointment or in general, please feel free to contact Wendy Garcia-Vega directly by email at [email protected] or by phone at 707-527-4253.

  • No! Once you are classified as ADE, all of your classes must be approved by the program.
  • In order for a class to be approved, the class must be on your ed plan, and you must let the ADE coordinator know, so our team can submit an ADE Course Authorization form to the Admissions and Records Office.
  • If you have a class that was approved, but it was full or you were not able to get an add code, you can switch the class by meeting with your counselor to update the ed plan. **Make sure to always communicate these changes to the ADE coordinator.**
  • Once A&R approves the class(es), they will send you an email, and they will also show up in your Bear Cub Hub.

You are welcome to enroll in as many classes as you like; however, please keep in mind that the maximum limit is 11 units. Unfortunately, we cannot authorize any enrollment beyond this 11-unit cap.

  • You must contact the ADE coordinator to get approval to drop.
  • Be mindful that if you drop past the deadline, you may end up with a “W” on your transcript.
  • Please try to avoid dropping classes, but if you must, always communicate with the ADE coordinator so you do not lose eligibility to participate in the following semester.

  • No! Classes on the ed plan must be sent through for approval before you can enroll in them. If the counselor wants to help you register, please tell them you are a part of the ADE program and must wait until classes are approved. Please have them contact the ADE Coordinator if they have any questions during the appointment.
  • You can enroll as early as 7:00 AM for Priority 6 Registration (NOT BEFORE).

  • Any credit class that is offered by SRJC is eligible, as long as it is on your ed plan.
  • It is your responsibility as a student to look through the SRJC schedule of classes and the degree/certificate programs SRJC offers.
  • The ADE coordinator is not well-versed in all of the credit programs that exist. As such, you must take the initiative to explore the programs that are offered and go to your counseling appointment with an idea of what you would like to take.

To unenroll, you must communicate with the ADE coordinator and submit a student data change form to the Admissions and Records office.

No, you must pay all of your fees before enrolling in the ADE program.

  • If you do not pass a class, you will not be able to participate in the ADE program in the following semester. A passing grade means “C” or better for credit classes and “P” for non-credit classes.
  • Your GPA may be affected by the unsatisfactory grade.
  • If you consistently fail to pass a class or drop without notifying the ADE coordinator, you will not be eligible to participate in ADE for the following semester.

  • You may continue to participate in the ADE program as long as you have not passed all of your high school equivalency exams or earned your HS diploma in the US.

As long as you have not passed 4/4 GED or 5/5 HiSET tests, you can participate in ADE!
